Join Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) and Vermillion Stewards for a “make and take” rainbarrel workshop on Tuesday, August 23, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Dakota County Fairgrounds in Farmington. Learn about water-friendly lawn and garden practices, then how to build, install, and maintain a rainbarrel in your yard to conserve water and prevent stormwater runoff. FMR staff will help participants build their own rainbarrels for $35, which covers donated barrels from Coca-Cola and the hardware needed to transform it into a water quality best practice. Workshop size is limited, and pre-registration is required. For more information, contact Amy Kilgore, FMR, at 651-222-2193 x 31 or email@example.com. Or you can register on the FMR website, www.fmr.org.
