The VRWJPO reports annually to the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR), the state agency that ensures watershed organizations are fulfilling all of their responsibilities under Minnesota statutes and rules.
The annual report describes the programs and projects undertaken in the watershed during the year, plans for the following year, and what those activities cost.
Dakota and Scott counties jointly fund the watershed’s activities with special tax district levies within each county’s portion of the watershed. The VRWJPO also funds its activities with grants from state and federal agencies and cost-shares projects to leverage funding from partners and cooperators. The VRWJPO has over a $3.6 million operating budget that includes nearly $1.7 million for capital improvement projects.
