A traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian Institution on water’s importance in people’s lives will tour Minnesota, visiting the Goodhue County Historical Society in Red Wing on Oct. 1 – Nov. 13, 2016. Minnesota is one of only five states in which the new exhibit, Water/Ways, debuts. The exhibit explores how Americans use water, take care of water, and seek active solutions to water problems. A interactive companion exhibit, We are Water MN, will collect water stories on individuals’ relationships with and responsibility toward water.

Each city hosting the exhibit will organize local events or activities to invite community members to tell their own water stories and connect with water organizations in their area. In Red Wing, a 2016 Water Summit is planned on Saturday, November 5, 1-4 p.m. at the Anderson Center in Red Wing. The public can participate in conversations about water on social media at #wearewatermn. Find out more at the Minnesota Humanities Center at www.minnesotahumanities.org/waterways.
