H2O + Hops: Habitat restoration, water quality and you! @ Spiral Brewery
Oct 24 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Join us for an evening of H2O and hops at Hastings’ newest watering hole, Spiral Brewery! Local experts from Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) and Hastings Environmental Protectors (HEP) will highlight important trends and emerging issues facing the Vermillion Watershed. Learn about local efforts to improve water quality and increase habitat restoration and biodiversity – plus actions you can take in your home and yard to help do your part.

Following the presentation, we’ll have an informal Q & A session. To make sure everyone has a chance to ask questions, and due to limited seating, advance registration required.

This event is part of the Vermillion Stewards program, helping Vermillion River Watershed residents learn about the local watershed while working to protect and enhance its unique natural resources.

Metro Children’s Water Festival @ Online
Sep 27 all-day

The annual festival is produced for 4th grade students in the Minneapolis and St. Paul metropolitan area and is held at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Due to COVID-19, the festival is virtual in 2021. The festival teaches children about water resources and how they can help ensure a future where both the quantity and quality of water resources are protected and managed wisely. Fourth grade teachers and parents or guardians are welcome to register and access the content after Sept. 27, throughout the rest of the 2021-22 school year.

Imagine a Day Without Water – Lakeville @ Lakeville Water Treatment Facility
Oct 22 @ 8:30 am – 2:00 pm

Celebrate “Imagine a Day Without Water” by touring the Lakeville Water Treatment Facility

Friday, October 22
Tour times: 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. or 1 p.m.

Water is a finite resource and one that needs protection. Imagine if you had no water to drink or make coffee. No water to shower, flush the toilet, or do laundry. Hospitals would close without water. Firefighters couldn’t put out fires and farmers couldn’t water their crops.

Come take a tour of the Water Treatment Facility to see where Lakeville’s drinking water is treated. Learn about the life of a water droplet and how your use of water affects this cycle with:

  • An interactive water cycle model
  • A chance to win prizes (“Slow the Flow – Save H2O” t-shirt, rain gauge and more!) by participating in water trivia
  • The VRWJPO “Pollute or Protect” exhibit in a box
  • Tips on how to save water (and money) at home

Bring your kids to this fun, interactive tour (while school is out). Space is limited—you must pre-register for a tour time. Pre-register for a tour time using this online form or call 952-985-4524.
