Meet Steve Hamrick

Steve Hamrick, Lakeville, joined the Watershed Planning Commission (WPC) in June 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic. Even though there have been no in-person meetings, Steve has been involved virtual meetings and impressed with the professional, knowledgeable, and committed commission members.

Steve’s interest in the WPC was sparked after going to the Vermillion River to fish and seeing silty water flowing into the river. He was surprised and hopes to learn how sediment-laden water enters the only trophy Brown trout fishery this close to a major metro area. So far, Steve has been surprised by the complexity of government.

Steve is a wildlife artist who just won the 2021 Trout Stamp and Turkey Stamp contests. He loves hunting, fishing, and being sous chef for my wife of 33 years whose cooking can’t be beat. He and his wife are parents to two adult children, Nicole and Adam.
