2026-2035 Vermillion River Watershed Management Plan
Our next-generation Watershed Management Plan is nearing completion!
The VRWJPO released the draft Plan for a legally (Minnesota Rules Chapter 8410 and Statutes 103B) required 60-day review and comment period by state review agencies and other local stakeholders from August 28 through October 28, 2025. Ten organizations submitted a combined total of 186 official comments. VRWJPO staff have carefully read each comment and sent a letter to each of the 10 organizations, responding to their respective comments, and revising the Plan document to reflect suggested changes. A new draft Plan will be posted here by Monday, January 12, 2026.
The next step is to hold a public hearing on the draft Plan, which is scheduled for January 22, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Dakota County Extension and Conservation Center. Interested parties may submit comments in writing or orally at the hearing.
